Contact: Secretariat of the Research Division
|The IAC (Tenerife) invites applications for ONE postdoctoral contract to work on topics within the projects: Scientific Exploitation of the GTC (P/300012) and Starbursts and Galaxy Evolution (AYA2013-47742-C4-2-P), led by Drs. José Miguel Rodríguez Espinosa y la Dra. Casiana Muñoz Tuñón, respectively. Research topics at the IAC include most areas of astrophysics: solar physics, planetary systems, stellar and interstellar physics, galaxy formation and evolution, and cosmology and astroparticles. These research lines are supported by an ambitious instrumentation program.
|The selected candidate is expected to become an active member of the starbursts (GEFE) and ALBA groups at the IAC. The project to be developed concern the study of Ly? emitters at high redshift using EMIR at the GTC. We will also be interested in studying extreme starbusts, ULIRGs and SubMillimetre galaxies.
In particular, the successful candidate should:
? Help to elaborate Phases 1 and 2 of the GTC/EMIR and GTC/MEGARA proposals
? Participate in proposals for commissioning the MOS at EMIR
? Participate in the data reduction of MOS spectroscopy of high-redshift sources
? Participate in the analysis of radio data obtained with the LMT (Mexico) of extreme Starburst sources, such as UGC5101, NGC6240, etc.
? Participate actively in the interpretation of the data resulting from the observations.
? Contribute to the cross-correlation between SHARDS data and their radio counterparts.
Position requirements: The candidates must have a solid track record of research and are expected to have a strong publication record.
Qualification requirements: To be eligible for admission, applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in Astrophysics or Physics, within the application deadline (January 15, 2018).
