Two new PhD positions are open in the Center for Theoretical Physics in Warsaw. Candidates will work under the supervision of prof. Agnieszka Janiuk on the topic of theory of accretion onto a black hole. Main focus will be given to the origin of gamma ray bursts. | ▸ more | Applications are invited for two PhD positions in Astrophysics at the Center for Theoretical Physics in Warsaw, Poland. The research projects will be led under the supervision of prof. Agnieszka Janiuk, and are related to computational astrophysics. Main focus is given to the accretion of matter onto black hole in the gamma ray bursts.
Scholarships cover a tax-free living allowance for 3 years. The starting date is envisaged on October 1st, 2017. PhD students will be also eligible for support for equipment and international travel to attend schools and conferences.
Applicants must hold a Master?s degree or equivalent in astrophysics, physics, computational science or a related area. A good command of English and fluency in Linux operating system is required. The application must include:
Cover letter, including a motivation of preference for the above mentioned project
- Curriculum Vitae (summarizing education, positions and academic work - scientific publications)
- Personal Questionnaire form (downloaded from the Institute webpage)
- Names and contact details of 2-3 references (name, affiliation, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number)
- Transcript of records from their University
- Certified copy of the MSc diploma, or a statement from the Supervisor regarding the prospects for completing the thesis before the starting date
Foreign applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their University?s grading system.
