3. Non-academic jobs and questionnaire for astronomers working outside academia

The EAS job directory has been recently complemented with a section on
non-academic jobs:

	http://eas.unige.ch/jobs.jsp?type=other

We would like to encourage the community to use this facility and to disseminate
a questionnaire prepared by Ioanna Arka for astronomers working outside academia.

This questionnaire is available on the new website Jobs for Astronomers at:

4. Physics at the Magnetospheric Boundary, Geneva, Switzerland, 25-28 June 2013
   (2nd announcement)

The "Physics at the Magnetospheric Boundary" conference is aimed at bringing
together specialists working theoretically, numerically and observationally on
processes occurring at the limit of the magnetically dominated region around
accreting objects such as: Neutron Stars, White Dwarfs, and Young Stellar
Objects.

Planned sessions for the conference include:
* Theory of accretion onto magnetized stars
* Numerical modelling of plasma-field interaction: accretion and jets production
* Observational clues to the physics at the magnetosphere
* Future perspectives in theory and observations.

More details are available on the conference website:

9. The Universe Explored by Herschel, 15-18 October 2013
    ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands

The Herschel `First Results Symposium' was held in May 2010 in the ESTEC
Conference Centre. More than 400 astronomers shared in the excitement during
the four memorable days of the first major scientific symposium featuring
Herschel results. There have been numerous expressions of interest regarding
future meetings. The organisers are now pleased to be in a position to extend
an invitation to the community for a follow-up meeting.

The overall objective of `The Universe Explored by Herschel' meeting will be
to present, discuss, and take stock of the scientific breakthroughs to date
based on Herschel observations, and their impact. The symposium will feature
invited and contributed talks, and posters, in five sessions:

* Galaxy formation & evolution
* Large scale galactic structure & nearby galaxies
* Water, astrochemistry & ISM physics
* Star & planetary system formation & evolution
* The Solar System & its evolution

The Second Announcement and Call for Papers was issued on 25 January 2013,
the deadline for abstract submission is 31 May 2013. All information about
the meeting is available on the conference website below.
