1. EWASS 2014: preliminary announcement on grants

EWASS 2014 will take place in Geneva from June 30 to July 4, 2014.
Each year, EAS distributes grants covering at least the registration fees.
These grants are preferentially given to young EAS members, students
and postdocs, who propose to present a talk. Therefore, we strongly
encourage students and  young astronomers to become EAS members before the end
of the year 2013 to be able to apply for a grant in 2014.

2. Invitation for applications for two Editor-in-Chief positions of the
   journal Astrophysics and Space Science

Springer invites applications for two Editor-in-Chief positions of the journal
Astrophysics and Space Science (Ap&SS):

3. Workshop in Rome related to INTEGRAL, 16-18 October 2013

This workshop will concern the scientific results from INTEGRAL and observations
from other Missions and/or at different wavelengths. The meeting will take place
on October 16-18 in Rome;  the precise location will be decided shortly. We aim
to bring together scientists who have been working with INTEGRAL in order to
discuss key science topics as well as prospects and opportunities for further
strategies in preparation for the upcoming 2014 ESA Review.

4. Reminder on the call for nominations for the 2014 MERAC Prizes for the Best
   Doctoral Theses

FONDATION MERAC is a non-profit foundation started in 2012 with headquarters
in Switzerland to recognize and support young European astronomers. There are
yearly three MERAC Prizes awarded by the EAS. The prizes of € 20'000.- are
for each of the three categories:
	- Theoretical Astrophysics,
	- Observational Astrophysics,
	- New Technologies (Instrumental/Computational).

The EAS Council invites EAS members to nominate suitable candidates for the
MERAC Prizes of 2014. This being an even year, the three prizes will be
Best Doctoral Thesis Prizes. The Prizes will be awarded for the best
PhD Theses in Astrophysics for degrees awarded during the period June
2010 — July 2013.

The deadline for nomination is Monday, September 30, 2013 at 16:00 CEST.
