1. EWASS 2014: Updated program and extension of the abstract submission deadline

We received many abstract submissions for the European Week of Astronomy and
Space Science (EWASS) to be held in Geneva from 30 June to 4 July 2014.
We thank you for your strong involvement. The reviewing process by session
organisers has started, but we extended the deadline until 28 March 2014.
Abstract submitted before this date (8th April for Symposium 2) will still
receive full consideration. Beyond this date, late submissions will
be considered as provisory and acceptance will depend on availability.
Please submit your abstract at:
	http://eas.unige.ch/EWASS2014/abstract_submission.jsp

We remind you that EAS members benefit from a reduced fee for early registration.
The deadline for early registration is: 15 April 2014.

The program of EWASS 2014 has now been updated with all plenary speakers at:
	http://eas.unige.ch/EWASS2014/program.jsp

A preliminary list of participants is also available on the conference site.

2. ISSI/ISSI-BJ Joint Call for Proposals 2014 for International Teams in Space
   and Earth Sciences

The International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in Bern, Switzerland, and
ISSI-BJ in Beijing, China invite proposals for establishing International
Teams to conduct on its premises research activities in Space Sciences, based
on the interdisciplinary analysis and evaluation of data from spacecraft and
possible integration with ground data and theoretical models.

Please see the official ISSI Call for Proposals 2014 for further information.

3. Conference announcement: Extreme Astrophysics in an Ever-Changing Universe -
Time Domain Astronomy in the 21st Century
   Ierapetra, Greece, 16-20 June 2014

Today we know that most phenomena observed in "time-domain" astronomy are
related to extreme astrophysical events or processes. Whether it is the
explosion of stars in supernovae or the observations of flare stars, pulsars,
gamma-ray bursts, blazars or active galactic nuclei, time-domain astronomy
stretches across the whole electromagnetic spectrum and beyond. With increasing
technical capabilities, the 21st century will see corresponding new instruments
being developed or coming online, revolutionising our view of the ever-changing
Universe.

Our ambition is to bring together different research communities and provide a
platform for an exchange of ideas, experience and methods that may prove
invaluable in promoting the unification of time-domain astronomy. Further, to
approach these methods qualitatively similarly as probes of very different scale
physics in which different effects become dominant at different systems.

The conference also celebrates the career of Prof. John H. Seiradakis, who over
the last 40 years has contributed to the field in many aspects.

Registration Deadline: April 30, 2014 or until all 80 available positions are
filled.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: April 30, 2014
Deadline for applying for Financial Support: April 30, 2014

The participation is limited to strictly 80 participants. Early registration
is therefore highly recommended.

4. Conference announcement: COSPAR 2014 Event E 1.2 - New Broadband Perspectives
on the Galactic Center Black Hole and its Environment, 2-10 August 2014

On the heels of a successful decade of observations and theoretical studies of
the central region of our Galaxy, the past two years have produced a remarkable
new set of data that promise to significantly improve our understanding of this
important region. In addition, several large space observational programs
focused on Sgr A*, the radiative counterpart of the central super-massive black
hole at the nucleus of our Galaxy, and its environment will be conducted with
Chandra, XMM-Newton, Spitzer, Suzaku, Fermi, Herschel, NuSTAR and other
observatories before the meeting begins. These data, coupled to ground-based
observations with the VLT, Keck and HESS/HESS2, will produce a base upon which
we expect to further develop our interpretation and modeling of high-energy
processes at the Galactic Center. We intend to gather observers and theorists
to discuss the Infrared to TeV emission from the supermassive black hole, the
inner 600 light-year region of the Galaxy, and the recently discovered Fermi
Bubbles extending to high latitudes.

5. Conference announcement: XVII National Conference of Astronomers of Serbia
   23-27 September 2014

The XVII National Conference of Astronomers of Serbia will take place in
Belgrade from September 23-27, 2014. The Conference brings together specialists
from Serbia and from abroad in all fields of astronomy and related disciplines.
It will be organized in problem-oriented sessions that will include: invited
review (plenary talk), invited talk presentations of PhD and master theses
completed since the preceding conference, contributed talks and posters.
The objective of the Conference is to cover as many topics belonging to
astronomy and related fields as possible.

We welcome scientists from all over the world to join us, to present your newest
studies, to participate in active discussions, and to build future collaborative
relationships. A preliminary conference program will be given in the Second
Announcement.

6. Conference announcement: Star Formation Across Space and Time
   11-14 November 2014, ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands

The objective of this meeting is to bring together astronomers
interested in all aspects of star formation, from local galactic to
extreme extra-galactic high-z conditions. Recent advances on the subject
suggest various communities can benefit from each other, and the meeting
aims to facilitate cross-fertilization between researchers with
different observational and theoretical backgrounds to further our
understanding of star formation as observed across the spectrum. The
meeting poses the fundamental question: Are there universal processes of
star formation across space and time?

The First Announcement has been issued on 24 January 2014. The Second
Announcement and Call for Papers will be issued in May 2014 with a
deadline for abstract submission in August 2014. All information about
the meeting is available on the conference website below.
