1. EAS 2014 Prizes: Tycho Brahe Prize, Lodewijk Woltjer Lecture & MERAC Prizes

The European Astronomical Society is pleased to announce the awardees of its
2014 Prizes.

Tycho Brahe Prize

The 2014 Tycho Brahe Prize is awarded to Prof. Antoine Labeyrie
in recognition of his innovative concepts and inventions now widely used in
modern optical imaging at high angular resolution.

2. Conference announcement: Superbubbles, HI Holes and Supershells -
Freising near Munich, Germany, 10-12 November 2014

We invite you to join a workshop on superbubbles to be held in November this
year near Munich, Germany. The workshop will address the theme of superbubbles,
their formation and role in galaxy scale circulation, turbulence and outflows.
We will emphasize multi-wavelength views, as our current understanding of
superbubbles benefits from many of the major observatories, e.g. ALMA,
Effelsberg, eVLA, FERMI, Herschel, HST, INTEGRAL, XMM. Theory will be compared
with such observational constraints, but also be discussed with respect to
progress in hydrodynamical simulation. We intend to bring together experts from
the different observing windows as well as theory, to discuss specialist's
knowledge and progress towards a coherent picture of the astrophysics of
superbubbles.

Participation will be limited to 50 attendees. Registration is now open.
We would appreciate if you confirm your interest and register through our
website as soon as possible:

Best wishes,
Martin Krause for the organisers

3. Conference announcement: The X-ray Universe 2014
   Dublin, Ireland, 16-19 June 2014

The XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre of the European Space Agency (ESA) is
organising the fourth astrophysical symposium in the series "The X-ray Universe".
The intention is to gather a general collection of research in high energy
astrophysics. The symposium will provide a showcase for results, discoveries and
expectations from current and future X-ray missions.

The conference web page including details on the scientific organisation is
available at:
	http://xrayuniverse.esa.int/
and information about registration and logistics can be found at:
