Postdoctoral positions in Cosmology | Closing date: 2019-10-31 Contact: Ely Kovetz |
The cosmology group at Ben-Gurion University is expecting to hire 2-3 postdocs under the New Frontiers in Cosmology initiative, led by Ely Kovetz, to work on various projects lying at the interface of theoretical astrophysics and particle physics. The positions are extendable for up to 3 years and offer a competitive stipend, plus an allocation for professional travel. Optional starting dates are October 2019, March 2020 or September/October 2020. | ▸ more | The focus of the New Frontiers in Cosmology initiative is on developing novel probes to cast light on the core mysteries in cosmology, notably the dark sector and inflation. BGU faculty with shared interests include David Eichler, Ramy Brustein, Uri Keshet and Adi Zitrin. We maintain strong ties with members of the Physics and Astronomy department at Johns Hopkins University, including Marc Kamionkowski, Joseph Silk, Emanuele Berti and others. Interested postdocs will have the option of spending 2-4 months per year at JHU to work on collaborative projects.
Ben-Gurion University is located in the biblical town of Be'er Sheva, situated in the desert scenery of the Negev. The campus is within a 1-hour train ride from Tel Aviv. Interaction with other research groups in Israel (at Tel-Aviv University, the Hebrew University, the Technion and the Weizmann Institute) is frequent.
Applicants are requested to submit a CV, statement of research interests and a publication list, and have three recommendation letters submitted on their behalf, no later than October 31st, 2019. A preferred starting date (as early as October 2019 or as late as October 2020) should be clearly indicated. Review of applications will start in August 2019 and continue until all positions are filled.
