We seek an ambitious and creative researcher who can explore and propose new ideas for investigating signatures of gamma ray bursts central engines, and their outflows, including chemical enrichment of the interstellar plasma by these explosions and heavy element radioactivities. The post-doc will also collaborate with other team members on the development of the GR MHD numerical tools and large scale jet modeling.
Applications are welcome from candidates with strong background in any aspect of theoretical and computational astrophysics. The ideal candidate has solid programming skills, previous experience on the application of ideal MHD methods and massive hydrodynamical simulations, good communication skills, and the ability to carry out projects independently, while working constructively within a group. Previous research experience on one or more of the following topics would be an asset: neutrino physics, dense matter equation of state, r-process nucleosynthesis. Pedagogical skills and experience in co-supervising students is also a plus.
The position will be for 3 years. The starting date is negotiable but could be as early as October 2020.
Application Deadline is Friday, July 31, 2020
