One PhD position: The physics of compact objects | Closing date: 2018-10-22 Contact: Manuel Linares |
We welcome applications for a 4-year PhD position (FPI) funded by the Spanish government (MINECO), as part of the project "From cooling to explosions: The physics of compact objects". The project is focused on observational as well as theoretical studies of compact objects (neutron stars, black holes and/or white dwarfs), both isolated and in binaries. The successful candidate will work in Barcelona, within the Group of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (https://gaa.upc.edu/en). Salary is commensurate with national PhD grants, and the position includes full health coverage. | ▸ more | Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics or equivalent on the start date (expected in mid 2019). Experience in astrophysical research in general, and in numerical simulations or optical/X-ray observations in particular, will be considered positively.
