1. "European Astronomy - reviewing national and international planning" report

Part of the report "European Astronomy - reviewing national and international
planning" by Martin C.E. Huber has been printed in issue 44 (pp. 5-10) of the
EAS Newsletter. As mentioned there, the printed version had to be slightly
modified in order to fit the printing constraints.

The complete report is available at:
	http://eas.unige.ch/documents/euro_astro_report_2012.pdf

This electronic version includes some updates. In particular, an appendix on
Japanese and Chinese projects in space and on the ground, as well as their
relation to Europe has been added. The list of acronyms and mission names is
also included.

2. EWASS2013, to be held in Turku, Finland, 8-13 July 2013

EWASS 2013, the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science, will take place
in Turku, from the 8 to the 13th of July, 2013. It will host 7 plenary talks,
12 Symposia, and 16 Special Sessions on various aspects of modern astronomy.
The conference web page is now available at:

	http://www.astro.utu.fi/EWASS2013/

3. European Radio Telescope Review Committee (ERTRC)

In the framework of the ongoing review of European astronomy the ASTRONET board
has established the European Radio Telescope Review Committee (ERTRC) in order
to study the relevance of present and future European radio telescopes for the
goals of its Science Vision.

All the relevant information can be found at:

	http://ertrc.strw.leidenuniv.nl/

Community input is crucial for guiding our conclusions and will feature
prominently in the report. Input may be provided via the website, either
through a discussion forum or via email.

4. ESLAB 2013: The Universe as seen by Planck, 2-5 April 2013
   ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands

We are pleased to announce a conference dedicated to present and discuss the
initial science results from Planck, ESA's mission to map the anisotropies of
the Cosmic Microwave Background (http://www.esa.int/Planck). It is the first
scientific forum where these results will be addressed, following Planck's
first major release of data products and scientific papers in early 2013. It
will cover both cosmology (based on analysis of the Cosmic Microwave Background)
and astrophysics (based on analysis of foreground emission sources).

More details on the conference can be found at the website:

5. IAU Symposium 304 "Multi-wavelength AGN Surveys and Studies"
   Armenia, 7-11 Oct. 2013

Please find below a link to the first announcement of the IAU symposium 304 on
"Multi-wavelength AGN Surveys and Studies" to be held in Armenia from the 7 to
the 11th of October 2013:

6. International VO school, Madrid, 5-7 Feb. 2013

The CoSADIE project is organising an international VO School at Centro de
Astrobiología, Madrid, Spain from the 5 to the 7th of February, 2013.

The Virtual Observatory (VO) is opening up new ways of exploiting the huge
amount of data provided by the ever-growing number of ground-based and space
facilities, as well as by computer simulations. The goals of the School are to
expose European astronomers to the variety of VO tools and services available
today so that they can use them efficiently for their own research.

In order to ensure the right level of interaction, participation will be
restricted to a limited number of participants (35). Preference will be given
to PhD students and post-docs.

Deadline for registration is December 21, 2012.

Some travel support is available for this workshop.

For more details, visit the workshop's web page:

7. International colloquium on optical/IR interferometry at OHP, 23-27 Sep. 2013

The Haute-Provence observatory (http://www.obs-hp.fr/) organizes with the CNRS
support, an international colloquium dedicated to technical solutions for
improving the performances of current optical/IR interferometers.

The colloquium will be held from the 23 to the 27th of September, 2013.
The goal of the colloquium is detailed in the page "First announcement" of the
website: http://www.obs-hp.fr/~hlecorol/workshopOHP/

The registration process will be open on this webpage on 21 January (second
announcement). Attendance is limited to 50 participants. Funding can be
requested by PhD students.

8. Physics at the Magnetospheric Boundary, Geneva, Switzerland, 25-28 June 2013

The "Physics at the Magnetospheric Boundary" conference is aimed at bringing
together specialists working theoretically, numerically and observationally on
processes occurring at the limit of the magnetically dominated region around
accreting objects such as neutron stars, white dwarfs, and T Tauri stars, where
the surrounding hot plasma is finally captured.

More details are available on the conference website:
