Lunch Session LS5
2 July 2021
The ESA Space Science Archives
Aims and scope
During this lunch session we will update the European space science community on the services, tools, and assets offered by the ESA Space Science Archives. Members of the ESA Science Data Centre will give presentations covering the current status of the archives, the new analysis and research tools and services that they offer, as well as the Archives' long-term strategy. We will provide demos on how to seamlessly explore and compare the content of the archives with ESASky and will show how easy it is with ESA Datalabs to bring your code to the data to plan and analyse your observations. We will also illustrate new initiatives to support the community and in particular young scientists fully exploit the data from ESA missions through the ESA Archival Research Visitor Programme.
Ample time will be allocated for an open-floor discussion, with questions and answers, soliciting inputs and feedback from the community.
Programme
The preliminary programme includes a number of short presentations and demos covering the following topics:
- Introduction
- Archival Research Visitor Programme (G. De Marchi)
- Astronomy Archives Users Group (N. Webb)
- Exploring ESASky (D. Baines)
- ESA Datalabs (M. Lopez-Caniego)
The last half hour will be reserved for an open-floor discussion to give a voice to everyone interested in using space-science data in their research.
Invited speakers
Scientific organisers
