Special Session SS41  30 Jun-01 Jul 2026

European forum of astronomical communities

Aims and scope

The European Forum of Astronomical Communities is a platform of the EAS that discusses the development of underrepresented astronomy communities in Europe and presents the current networking opportunities available to European astronomers. The forum launched during EWASS 2017 in Prague and has been held every year since then.

* Maintain FORUM as a platform for discussing ways to support underrepresented communities and enhance their participation in the current and future European networking programmes, major infrastructures, space missions, and outreach programmes.

* Present current networking opportunities in research, outreach, industrial and educational activities available in Europe.

* Promote professionalisation by identifying ways to increase access to training, mentoring, exchange schemes, fellowships, travel and research grants, and to foster diversity.

* Actively engage underrepresented communities by inviting them to present short talks and posters, thereby strengthening links between large international networks and smaller European communities.
