Center for Theoretical Physics invites applications for post-doctoral position at the CTP PAS, financed from the project Quasar main sequence, PI of the project is Prof. Bozena Czerny.
At the time of application the candidates should either have a PhD degree, obtained not earlier than in 2009, or will obtain a PhD degree before signing the job contract. We search for candidates interested in the research in the domain of astrophysics. Candidates with previous experience in astrophysics, and in particular in optical observations and in programming, are particularly welcome. | | ▸ more | Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the area of active galactic nuclei. The succesful candidate will work with prof. Bozena Czerny on the research project Quasar Main Sequence (NCN No. 2015/17/B/ST9/0343)
aimed to explain the physical nature of the most essential parameter responsible for the observed properties of the radio-quiet active galactic nuclei/quasars. We will try to prove our working hypothesis, that this is not the Eddington ratio itself.
Among the tasks of the employed scientist will be the selection of observational samples of quasars and the preparation of the PCA code for analysis of the models and the data. More details about the project can be found at the web site of CTP

Candidates should submit before May 9, 2016, the following documents to the Secretariat of the Center, Al. Lotników 32/46, Warsaw:
1. The scientific CV, including the major scientific achievements, list of publications, participation in research projects and conferences, and the document must contain a statement: I consent to the processing of my personal data for the needs of the recruitment process (in accordance with the Law dated 29.08.97 on the protection of personal data (Journal of Laws, No. 101, item 926).
2. Personal questionnaire form (should be downloaded from CTP web site)
3. Three names of the referees, with contact information, including e-mail addresses
4. Certified copy of the PhD diploma or the letter from the supervisor about the prospects for completion of the Thesis before the beginning of the employment.

Review of applications is expected before May 30, 2016. Applicants will be informed about the results by e-mail. The selected candidate will be employed for a period from 24 to 30 months, depending on the exact starting date. The starting date of the employment is envisaged to be 1 July 2016, but is to some extent negotiable.
