Ph.D. scholarship in cosmology with gravitational lensing of the Cosmic Microwave Background | Closing date: 2024-05-10 Contact: Pawel Bielewicz |
The Astrophysics division at the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Warsaw ( https://www.ncbj.gov.pl/en/astrophysics-division ) invites applications for a Ph.D. position in gravitational lensing of the Cosmic Microwave Background (the first thesis topic on the web page https://gradschool.ncbj.gov.pl/physics-thesis-topics-for-october-2024/ ). | ▸ more | PhD project will involve research on different aspects of the CMB gravitational lensing effect including developing and implementation of algorithms for estimation of the gravitational lensing potential, cross-correlations with galaxy and radio surveys, correcting CMB maps for the lensing effect and constraining amplitude of the primordial gravitational waves and sum of neutrino masses. The PhD student will analyse publicly available data from the Planck satellite and other ongoing and near future CMB experiments. The cross-correlation studies will be realized within the framework of the Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time survey.
The successful candidate has to qualify for doctoral studies at NCBJ Graduate School of Physics and Chemistry and is expected to start his/her research in October 2024 or February 2025. The application should be submitted to the email grad @ ncbj.gov.pl by 10th May 2024. A list of required documents can be found on the web page https://gradschool.ncbj.gov.pl/requirements/
