Volunteer information for EAS2020

Status 10.06.2020

The first virtual EAS2020 and NAC2020 is rapidly approaching! We cannot wait to meet you there on the new and sophisticated virtual conference platform!

Every day there will be 11 parallel blocks of sessions starting at 9 AM, 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM CEST (a block will take 1.5 hours). Each online session will be supported by a KUONI employee (KUONI is the Professional Conference Organiser, PCO), a Host and a Facilitator (provided by the session chair/organisers). To help with the smooth switching between LIVE presentation and parallel Q&A we will also need people to help with the "Technical Support". This basic support will be for the attendees and presenter, the more technical platform support will be provided by KUONI. The technical support volunteer role is vey basic, no expert IT experience is needed. The volunteer will be helping speakers with Zoom set up, camera and microphone, or basic laptop issues.

For the technical session support we would like to ask your help as a volunteer. There will be a zoom training session in which you will need to participate and during when you can reconfirm your availability. During the EAS2020 conference, you should be available for at least one block, but you can volunteer for more.

What are the benefits?

  • If you volunteer for 6 or more blocks, you can apply for free registration to the virtual meeting (fee waiver)
  • You can choose sessions of your personal interest (first come, first served)
  • You will acquire expertise in running a virtual and sustainable science meeting (one of the first big virtual meetings in astronomy!)
