The annual meeting of the EAS, formerly EWASS conference, is organised since 2014 by the EAS in collaboration with a local Hosting Committee and with the support of a Professional Conference Organiser and a local Destination Management Company.

The scientific programme is defined by the Scientific Organising Committee (SOC) based on the proposals received in response to the call for expressions of interest to organise Symposia and Special Sessions.

A Request for Proposal (RfP) is provided every year and contains the guidelines to be followed to propose a city and venue as a future host of the conference.

Grant Request

EAS Grant Allocation

A limited number of EAS/Springer Grants are available to facilitate the participation of young astronomers to the EAS annual meeting. The funds (total amount of 3000 €) are dedicated to PhD students and postdocs who have a contributed or invited talk.

These grants are restricted to applicants who are already members of the European Astronomical Society (EAS) the year preceding the EAS annual meeting. The application shall contain a justification of the grant request and a scientific abstract of a contribution to be given at the EAS annual meeting.

The decision will be made on the basis of the justification and the scientific contribution. The distribution of grants should however also reflect the variety of nationalities which make up the EAS, cover different scientific fields presented at the EAS annual meeting and aim at a balance in gender distribution.

The EAS/Springer Grant requests are accepted from the opening of the EAS annual meeting registration to the EAS annual meeting abstract submission deadline. Decisions about the funding will be made afterwards and communicated to the applicants before the EAS annual meeting early registration deadline.

The individual grants usually do not exceed a total amount of 500-600 €, which is paid after the EAS annual meeting by bank transfer directly to the beneficiary upon reception of the letter of attendance to the EAS annual meeting. More details are given directly to grantees.

The EAS requires the acknowledgement of support from EAS/Springer Grants in any publication which would come out from the participation to the EAS annual meeting.

Please, request funding only if you would otherwise not be able to attend.

Sorry, there is currently no open call for EAS annual meeting grants.
