The candidate will be involved in the design, construction, and evaluation of a novel microscope that operates at wavelengths below 200 nm.
Once the UV microscope is completed and thoroughly certified, the PhD student will use this instrument to study the impact of far-UV radiation on amino acids, mainly alanine, to understand the role of the UV radiation on the chemistry of these compounds under laboratory conditions that resemble those present in small Solar System bodies.
The samples to be analysed will be generated in our state-of-the-art laboratory facility.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor?s Degree or Master?s Degree (preferably) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering.
-Excellent teamwork abilities within a multidisciplinary context.
-Excellent English level.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
-Non-EU degrees need to be recognized by EU Institutions at the time of the application.
