| Postdoctoral Research Position(s) in Observational Extragalactic Astronomy at the University of Geneva | Closing date: 2020-01-10

| Applications are invited for up to two postdoctoral research positions in observational extragalactic astronomy at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. The successful candidates will work in the group "Galaxy Build-up at Cosmic Dawn" with Prof. Pascal Oesch on research projects focused on the first generations of galaxies involving deep multi-wavelength observations from HST, Spitzer, ALMA, VLT+Keck, and soon from JWST. | | ▸ more | Interested candidates will have the opportunity to get involved in several international collaborations, including the ALMA Large Program REBELS, and teams preparing for upcoming facilities such as the multi-object spectrograph VLT/MOONS as well as ESA's Euclid Space Telescope. Candidates with prior experience in photometric redshift measurements or Lyman Break selections are especially encouraged to apply, to prepare for the exploitation of the Euclid Deep Fields for z>6 research.
At the Geneva Observatory and the associated Laboratory of Astrophysics of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the successful candidates will find a rich and vibrant research environment in the fields of extra-solar planets, stellar physics, high energy astrophysics, galaxy evolution, and observational cosmology.
The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and availability of funds. The appointments are expected to start mid 2020, and require the completion of a PhD in Astronomy, or related field.
