The Faculty of Science of the University of Geneva is opening a position of Senior Lecturer at the Department of Astronomy in the domain of High-energy Astrophysics. | ▸ more | INSTITUTE: The Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva offers a modern and vibrant scientific environment with world-renown researchers in the domains of stellar physics, extra-solar planets, galactic and extragalactic astrophysics, observational cosmology and high-energy astrophysics. It hosts in particular a Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research and is actively involved in most of the major missions of the European Space Agency.
ASSIGNMENT : Full-time appointment including lecturing in the domain of High-Energy Astrophysics (maximum 4 hours/week), and supervision of bachelor, master and PhD theses. The successful candidate is expected to conduct world-class research in the domain of high-energy astrophysics, in particular in X-rays, and attract external fundings. Profiles demonstrating a strong implication in the science of current and future space missions in X-rays, in particular XMM-Newton and Athena, are especially encouraged.
ACADEMIC TITLE REQUESTED : PhD or equivalent. Experience in research supervision and teaching experience. Publications in high-ranked international journals.
STARTING DATE : 01.11.2020, or upon mutual agreement.
