The Niels Bohr Institute announces the availability of a faculty position in physics. The position can be filled at the level of associate professor with tenure or professor with tenure depending on qualifications of the candidate.
- The candidate should have a research in profile in either computational methods in physics or in quantum information theory.
- Candidates within computational physics preferably have a research profile in one or more of the following areas, advanced statistical learning, algorithm development, numerical methods, or simulation-based inference.
- Candidates within quantum information theory preferably have experience with application and implementation of quantum information for quantum technology, quantum communication or quantum algorithms.
Relevant research activities at the Niels Bohr Institute can be found within Astrophysics (including Planetary Sciences and Cosmology); Biophysics and Biocomplexity; Condensed Matter and Quantum Physics, Geophysics (including Ice, Climate, and Earth Sciences); High Energy and Astro-particle Physics and in the Center for Quantum Devices (qdev.dk); quantum optics theory group (tqo.dk), the Quantum Photonics Center (hy-q.nbi.ku.dk), and the Quantum Optics Center (quantop.nbi.ku.dk). Related activities can further be found in the Center for the Mathematics of Quantum Theory (qmath.ku.dk/).
The successful candidate must be an outstanding scientist who has already had significant international impact on research and who has demonstrated: (1) the talent and vision to define an independent research program, (2) the scientific maturity to establish an independent research group, and (3) the ability to attract significant external funding in open competition at national and international levels. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate both internationally and within University of Copenhagen on research questions of broad-scale relevance and should preferably have experience from leading an internationally recognized research program.
