Postdoctoral position in gamma ray burst astrophysics | Closing date: 2022-10-28 Contact: Agnieszka Janiuk |
Center for Theoretical Physics of PAS (CTP) in Warsaw advertises a call for post-doc position to participate in the project ?Origin of Gamma Ray Bursts and their multi messenger appearance?. The successful candidate will spend 100% of the time for this project in collaboration with PI, prof. Agnieszka Janiuk. | ▸ more | The postdoc will join the Relativistic Astrophysics group led by prof. A. Janiuk. The project is focused on theoretical modeling of gamma ray bursts, their interaction with environment, and explaining their observed properties. We are using both observational (archival) data and computational methods. The group is involved in space programs of ESA and NASA. We are looking for a candidate with a PhD and experience in high energy astrophysics. Experience in massive parallel computations on HPC systems and good programming skills are highly valued, but interesting independent new projects will be also considered. The successful candidate may supervise students for the purpose of carrying out this project.
The appointment is planned for two years.
Salary will be based on the domestic level and it includes health insurance, annual benefits, and access to the MultiSport program.
The starting date of employment is expected to be 1st January 2023 but is slightly negotiable.

The scientific CV, including publication list, participation in research projects and conferences (with the clause "I agree to the processing of my personal data contained in the application documents") 2. Motivation letter, with a description of the Candidate's commitment and research plans for this position. 3. A copy of the PhD diploma, or statement from the PhD Advisor on the planned date of defense (the PhD should be awarded before the contract starting date). 4. Preferences will be given to early-stage researchers.
The receipt of applications will be acknowledged by email. Selected candidates might be asked to present an on-line seminar talk.
Once the evaluation process is completed, successful applicant will be notified. Closing of the competition is planned on November 10, 2022.
