The Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for a Visiting Research Fellow to study star-forming compact galaxies that exhibit possible signatures of active galactic nuclei. Our scientific goals are to better understand the role of star-forming galaxies in the Epoch of Re-Ionization and to characterize accretion processes around intermediate-mass black holes as possible precursors to super-massive black holes hosted in large galaxies.

Our project consists in the observational analysis of the Green Pea and Blueberry galaxies across the electromagnetic spectrum, using both our recently awarded data in radio and X-rays as well as archival multiwavelength data. We are optimally looking for a candidate who is experienced with HST UV photometry/imaging, radio interferometry, infrared and/or X-ray spectral analysis of faint targets. The position is open for the calendar year 2024, but after this period, it may be possible to prolong the stay of a postdoctoral researcher dependent upon the result of pre-submitted funding applications.
