We invite applications for five PhD positions in observational astrophysics at the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland. The Department of Astrophysics of the NCBJ Department of Fundamental Research is involved in research in the fields of astrophysics and astronomy, mainly in their observational aspects. The Department of Astrophysics focuses on Cosmology (including CMB, large-scale Structure of the Universe, dark matter, and gravitational lensing), Gravitational Waves (Multimessenger Astronomy), Galaxy Physics (galaxy formation and evolution, active galactic nuclei and quasars), and Astronomy of the Interstellar Medium (Star Formation, neutron stars, and white dwarfs). Our PhD topics: 1. Gravitational lensing of the cosmic microwave background in the era of big surveys 2. Linking dust attenuation and radio data 3. Reliably identifying merging galaxies in large surveys 4. Properties of low surface brightness galaxies in the LSST era 5.
